I’m O’Rourke, a passionate number-cruncher and financial educator from a long line of freedom fighters who used education & small businesses as paths to freedom.
Here, I’m exploring all things money (+ some things freedom) with you.
At o’rourke fff* studio, I joyfully get to unite many of my drives: a spirit of service, my commitment to constant learning, my love of finance, & my freedom fighter roots.
Freedom is, in part, about owning one’s mind and owning one’s time. Education helps with the former and money helps with the latter. Therefore, a financial education blog is born!
Disclaimer: Everything written here is for educational purposes and nothing here should be taken as advice. So as to not tire my friends with unsolicited money talk 😆, I’m writing to share all I’ve learned/am learning, as well as to chronicle my journey to financial independence (FI) — as somewhat of a late bloomer.
*A nerdy side note: fff is the music notation abbreviation for “fortississimo”, which means “very very loud”. So, at times, I’ll write ‘out loud’ about some of the nitty gritty money topics that may feel (at least for me) taboo to talk about, but necessary. This includes discussing where money intersects with power, relationships, and religions/spirituality.
Knowledge is power. What compels me to come out of my pure introvert shell and write here, is that I want financial literacy and financial freedom for as many people as possible! I believe that the desire for financial freedom is something many people have in common. And unity is especially important during times when we seem so divided. So, here, I do my little part. Both my life experience and my heart tell me that at a core level most people want mostly the same things — and freedom is one of those things. So, I’m coming at that longing from the angle of money.

TABLE OF CONTENTS / GLOSSARY OF TERMS
🌎 Money Cosmology: Examples of money stories — personal and collective — that drive beliefs and feelings (and therefore behaviors) about money.
☕️💰 FI Latte: Let’s talk about the nuts & bolts of financial independence (FI). Why “latte”? It’s a tongue-in-cheek way of discussing being late to the FI journey; saying “latte” takes the sting out of saying “late”.
💌 Love Letters: Unsent letters to various finance writers discussing their work as well as messages of hope and encouragement to my readers here.
📈 The Biz: Small business basics for those (like me) who started businesses as paths to FI.
Live free & prosper, y’all!
